Labour win Peterborough by-election

The results from last night’s by-election in Peterborough have been counted and verified, and Lisa Forbes has been crowned the new Member of Parliament for Peterborough.

Winning by a majority of less than 700 votes, Labour scraped through, despite The Brexit Party giving them a good run for their money. Turnout was relatively high, but the Tory vote held up, allowing Labour to just edge the poll.

Extrapolation of this by-election would see Labour with around 280 seats, followed closely by The Brexit Party with 240, giving us another hung Parliament, Labour having no clear majority.
